Problem
Black military and intelligence contributions across the Revolutionary and Civil Wars are often siloed in archives. I wanted an explorable surface that makes milestones reachable by date, place, category, and campaign — without flattening them into a single timeline scroll.
Approach
A dark-themed war-room map with era tabs:
| Era | Focus | Milestones | | --- | --- | --- | | Civil War Legacies (1861–1865) | Soldiers, nurses, campaigns | 13 events | | Forgotten Patriots (1770–1783) | Spies, sailors, patriots | 10 events |
Each milestone carries summary, notable figures, deeper narrative, strategic significance, and links to institutions such as the National Archives, NPS, and American Battlefield Trust.
Outcome
A live static site on GitHub Pages that turns under-told history into a keyboard-friendly, source-backed exploration — not a social feed of decontextualized facts.
